This year we were lucky and had my family (the Diffenbaughs) at our place for Christmas. They got into town just before midnight on Tuesday. Wednesday, Kaners went down for a nap and Nolen volunteered to stay home while the rest of us went shopping...unknowing that we would take ALL day long! My poor boys spent the whole day at home and the rest of us got back around 6pm. Then we all got ready and went to Panda Express for dinner and then went to see the lights at the Temple, we wanted to catch the Choir but made it right after they finished. Christmas Eve was full of making sweet treats and my fav Tabouleh! For dinner Nolen made a yummy lentil soup, complete with bread bowls! We were all sooooo full afterwards that we all moaned and groaned about our tummies, while still popping sweets in our mouth! Christmas Eve we also watched the Christmas devotional. Christmas morning we were able to sleep in till almost nine! My family was going to go to mass at 8:30 but my mom wasn't feeling good the night before so they opted for 11:30. Before they left Nolen made us some waffles and eggs for breakfast. Aunt Sarah (Sissy) wanted us to open presents before they went to church so we all opened one....Kane's first present was clothes so he really didn't care, which meant we were able to get him to open at least one more present later. It was a pretty relaxing day and Nolen made a yummy dinner for us. He made prime rib, crab legs, twice baked potatoes, green beans with bacon and almonds, and a yummy spinach salad. We also each had a little bit of apple cider, but we didn't buy enough to have second!
Kane had such a blast and gave lots of kisses and hugs! He still wants his mommy most of the time and really warmed up to my youngest sister who looks alot like me! He also had fun being silly with Grandpa. Grandpa took him on a nice long walk and played with him at the park, flipped him over and over, and made him bounce on the blow up mattress.
It was so amazing to be able to spend Christmas with my family for the first time in three years. They left this morning and it never feels like any visit is long enough. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and enjoyed celebrating our Saviors love and the love of our families.
